ABOUT ME
I live in the village of Blockley, near Moreton-in-Marsh, in the North Cotswolds. As well as my work and people generally, I enjoy my family, music, theatre, walking, artwork and the countryside.
I've always been interested in and loved working with people - and before becoming a counsellor I was a social worker in the community and in health settings (hospitals and clinics) - helping individuals, couples and families who were struggling with very difficult personal situations, illness, trauma or loss.
Too much paperwork eventually took over many years later - so I undertook a 3-year counselling training, then working as a counsellor in GP surgeries and private practice for over 12 years in Suffolk and Cambridge, before moving to Gloucestershire.
I have worked professionally in child guidance (mainly marital counselling) and also, voluntarily in a young persons' counselling agency and in palliative care.
In the NHS I worked with all sorts of people and problems. Especially in the areas of relationship difficulties (of all kinds), bereavement and other major loss, health issues, depression, abuse, major life changes, family problems, and job difficulties. But I have many years of experience counselling for a very wide variety of emotional and life difficulties.
I now take GP and self referrals for individual and couples counselling and I work from a lovely, peaceful summerhouse in the garden of my home. It is a comfortable and therapeutic setting.
